Walter A. "Sonny" Shuty

Shuty, Walter A. " Sonny" - 89, Munster Twp., Lilly, passed away June 17, 2022 at home. Born March 15, 1933 in Benscreek, the son of Albert and Rose (Kunko) Shuty, Sr.. Deceased family members include his parents; son, Patrick Shuty; grandson, Joseph Minelli; brothers, Francis "Fritz" Shuty; Joseph "Ki" Shuty; Stanley Shuty; Eddie Shuty; and Albert "Doodles" Shuty, Jr.; and sisters, Anne Cilwa; Rose "Biz" Valine; Helen "Toots" Kalucki; Adeline Arter; Marge Blasi; Barbara Eckenrode; and Nell Briggs, and two infant siblings. He is the last member of his immediate family. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Leona "Nonie"  (Sheehan) Shuty and these children, Lisa, wife of Greg Toth, Alexandria, PA; Christine, wife of Scott Davis, and Ron Shuty , married to the former Jessica Allison, both of Munster Twp.. He will be sadly missed by his grandchildren, Jessica (Jeff) Minelli; Angela Knepp; Nicholas Toth, Brandon Stephens; Matthew (Kristen) Stephens; Kayla (Nick) Perry; Brody (Alyson) Shuty; and Jett Shuty; and great grandchildren, Avery and Caelyn Minelli, Parker Knepp, Kinsley and Raelyn Perry. Also survived by sister in law, Dorothy Shuty and numerous nieces and nephews. Army Veteran of the Korean War, devout Republican with an opinion, and a retired mine engineer from Bethlehem Mine #33. Walt was an avid hunter and lover and trainer of Brittany Spaniels; fisherman; golfer; camper on the Juniata river; active member, treasurer, and secretary of the Jamestown Rod and Gun Club; and an usher and choir member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Cresson. Friends received from 4-8 p.m., Monday at the Serenko-Claar Funeral Home, PC in Portage. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 am Tuesday, at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, in Cresson, P.a., with Father  Leo Arnone, Celebrant. Committal will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Portage with military funeral rites by the Portage Ritual Team.
