Virginia Lockard Obituary

Lockard, Virginia (Branas) 86 of Portage, passed away April 14, 2026, surrounded by family at The Rose of Sharon Home. Born July 1, 1939, in Portage, the daughter of Adolph and Nellie (Golden) Branas. Deceased family members include her parents; husband, Chester Lockard; and sister Helen Kirsch; brothers Emil and Tom Branas; and her brother-in-law Richard Vas Dias. Survived by sons, Jeff (Debra) Lockard, and Jason (Teri) Lockard. She will be sadly missed by her grandchildren, Alyssa (Cody) Frederick, Luke (Sarah) Lockard, Sarah (Andrew) Nealen, Lauren Lockard, Lauren Gergely; and her great grandchildren, Aleeya and Owen Frederick, and Lainey Lockard. Also survived by brothers, Carl (Janet) Branas and Daniel (Kerri) Branas and sisters, Marianne (Gerald) Panczak and Bernadette Van Dias. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Virginia found her greatest joy in tending to her flowers and garden, where she spent countless hours planting, nurturing, and sharing her flowers with family and friends. Her garden was not only a place of beauty but a reflection of her patience, kindness, and love for life. There will be no public visitation, but family and friends are invited to attend Virginia’s memorial service on May 2, 2026, at 11 a.m. at The Community Bible Church, Pastor Jeff Dollar, officiating.
