Thomas Hodgkinson Obituary

Hodgkinson, Thomas F. "Tom", 76, Portage , passed away July 5, 2024 at Windber Hospice. Born August 12, 1947 in Johnstown, the son of Frank and Emma (Inman) Hodgkinson. Deceased family members include his parents, brother-in-law, Richard "Whitey" Rosman and nephew, Richard Rosman. Survived by loving wife of 52 years Patricia "Patty" (Gavlak) Hodgkinson; son, Mark Hodgkinson and wife, Jennifer (Fox), and daughter, Elaine, wife of Ryan Herman. He will be sadly missed by his grandchildren, Nathan and Jenna Hodgkinson; Also survived by sister, Emma Jane Rosman; brothers-in-law; sisters-in-law; and several nieces and nephews. Tom was a 1965 graduate of Portage Area High School and proudly served in the National Guard. Former sales representative for Cresson Motors and retired from Tri-County Motors, where he served his customers well. Member of the First Lutheran Church, where he was a member of the council and an avid volunteer for activities; Also a Very active member of the Portage Rotary Club and community projects; was a groundskeeper for Shady Springs Club; and as an avid bowler he was the president of the Portage Classic bowling league. He also enjoyed spending time with his family, camping, fishing, the outdoors and the Pittsburgh Pirates, Steelers, and Penguins. Friends received from 3-8 p.m., Tuesday at the Serenko-Claar Funeral Home, PC, Portage. Friends also received from 10-11 a.m., Wednesday at the First Lutheran Church, Portage where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday with Vicar Jennifer Sherbine, officiating. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Portage. Military funeral rites by the Portage Ritual Team. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to  be made to Windber Hospice.
