Ronald Swires Sr.

Swires, Ronald R. "Ron", Sr., 81 , Portage died Feb. 5, 2022 at home surrounded by his loving family. Born  July 6, 1940 in Portage the son of Francis C. and Rachael M. (Brown) Swires. Deceased family members include his parents; wife Kathryn Dolores "Petie" (Pyo) Swires; grandaughter, Kathryn Chrystiline Swires; brother Francis "Sonny" Swires; and sister, Shirley Krug. Survived by children Ronald R. (Sharon) Swires, Jr., Portage; Anna Swires, Portage; Melissa "Missy" (John Burkett, Jr.) Burkett, Onnalinda; and Aaron (Amanda) Swires, Dublin,VA . He will be sadly missed by his grandchildren, Ryan and Jamie Grove; Kayla and Brad Rousell; Kyler and KayDee Swires; Harry and Chase Swires; Brianna, Jordan, and Ella Burkett; and Madison Cornell; and great granchildren, Oliver Grove and Evelyn Rousell. Also survived by sisters in law, Rita (Glasgow) Swires and Jane (Lysic) Pyo and numerous nieces and nephews. Retired from Corning Inc. and served as General Manager for Thiel Inc. 33 years. Army Veteran of Vietnam War and served in the Second Infantry. Life Member of the Portage Volunteer Fire Company. Member of Post #430 American Legion. He was an avid golfer who also enjoyed fishing with his "Best Friend", Bart Wagner, and was an avid Pitt Panther Sports fan. 
Friends received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM Tuesday at the Serenko-Claar Funeral Home, PC, Portage. Funeral Services will be held at 11AM Wednesday at Trinity United Methodist Church, Portage. Rev. Arthur Black, Officiating. Committal in the Lithuanian Cemetery. Military Funeral Rites will be held by the Portage Ritual Team. In Lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial donations to the Trinity U.M.  Church.
