Robert “Bobby” Patrick Tavernini, 61, passed away at his home in Las Vegas, Nevada, on September 1, 2025. Born November 10, 1963. His life was marked by both joy and hardship, and his story reflects the complicated reality of a life lived on his own terms. He was preceded in death by his parents, Aldo and Jeannette Tavernini of Portage, Pennsylvania. A graduate of Portage High School, Class of 1981, Bobby pursued his lifelong dream of working in the gaming industry, inspired in part by his father’s pinball machine business. After earning certifications at the Casino Career Institute in Atlantic City in 1984, he began his career at the Tropicana Casino before moving to Las Vegas in 1989. Over the decades, he worked at several casinos and most recently as a floor supervisor at The Orleans. Bobby was brilliant, especially with numbers and people. That brilliance, however, was not always matched with choices that allowed him to thrive. His struggles were real and lasting, and they shaped not only his own life, but also the perspective of those who knew him. He also had a lighter, joyful side. He loved sharing colorful stories from the casino floor, had a sharp wit, and found humor in almost anything. He had a gentle heart for dogs and a talent for cooking, leaving behind memories of crab boiled in beer, perfectly grilled steaks, and meals that brought people together. These moments of connection stand as reminders that even amid struggle, there were sparks of warmth and joy. Bobby’s life is remembered not only for what it was, but also for the lessons it left behind: that intelligence and charm are gifts, but how we choose to use them matters deeply. His story reminds us to live fully, to face our battles honestly, and to make choices that honor both ourselves and those who come after us. He leaves behind his daughters, Breanna and Jamie; his siblings, Kim, Alan, and Kelly; his brother-in-law, Dan and Kelly’s significant other Mark; Aunt Nora and Aunt Nancy; nephew, Craig; and loving cousins and friends. A memorial service will be held on November 8, 2025, at 10AM at Serenko-Claar Funeral Home in Portage, PA, Fr. Thomas Stabile, Celebrant, followed by inurnment at Sacred Heart Cemetery on Spring Hill in Portage. The Tavernini Family is being served by the Serenko-Claar Funeral Home, PC, Portage.
