Phyllis (Mihalko) Klein

Klein, Phyllis, 84, Portage, died Dec. 27, 2021 in Johnstown. Born May 19, 1937 in Portage the daughter of Joseph and Angeline "Nell" (Barnish) Mihalko. She was united in marriage to William J. "Wink" Klein on April 22, 1961. Deceased family members include her parents; loving  husband of 56 years, William J. "Wink" Klein; beloved son, William "Billy" Klein; her only sibling, Leonard "Butch" Mihalko; and nephew, Leonard Mihalko ll. Survived by her loving son, Gregory Klein married to the former Amy Godish,  and daughter-in-law, Desiree (Nichols) Klein, all of Portage. She will be sadly missed by her cherished grandchildren, Makayla; Nathaniel "Nate"; Julianna "Julie"; and Jordan Klein; and step grandson, Andrew Nichols.  Also survived by sister in law, Barbara (Kessler) Mihalko; brother-in-law, Robert Klein and his wife Carol (Basile); as well as many nieces and nephews; great nieces and great nephews and two special nieces, Robin (Mihalko) Barret and husband, Tim; and Stacy (Mihalko) Robertson and her husband, Gary. Phyllis was retired from Appalachian Youth Services. She was also a former legal secretary for Ferdinand Bionaz. She had previously served on Portage Boro Council and was formally the Portage Borough Tax Collector for many years. Member of Holy Family Parish in Portage. Phyllis was a very loving woman with an infectious sense of humor and amazing wit. She enjoyed talking about the funny things that would happen in everyday life and she could tell a good story that got everyone laughing. She especially held dear to her heart her grandchildren. She also enjoyed baking, watching cooking shows on tv, reading, listening to her favorite polkas, and playing cards with her family. She will be missed beyond words. Her family finds comfort in knowing that she has now been reunited with her loved ones who have found eternal life before her. Friends received from 6 to 8 PM Sunday at the Serenko-Claar Funeral Home. PC, Portage. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 AM Monday at Holy Family Parish, Portage. Fr.
