Mary McCabe (Ann) Obituary

Mary Ann McCabe (Ann), 84, Lilly, passed away on May 26, 2021 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born July 26, 1936, daughter of William and Mary (Conrad) Davies. As the last surviving member of her immediate family, she was preceded in death by her parents, sister Agnes (Davies) Plewa and husband Edward Plewa, brothers Robert Davies and wife Katherine “Kay” (Horton) Davies and Louis Davies. She is survived by her husband of 62 years James McCabe, daughters Patricia McCabe and Christine McCabe, grandchildren Brittany Benden and fiancée Kevin Turner, James Schaffer and Samantha Schaffer, great grandchildren Kiarra Turner, Kaden Turner, Kenzie Turner and Keagan Turner, sister in law Sylvia (Bender) Davies, and numerous nieces and nephews. Ann is also survived by her nephew Mark Plewa and wife Carolyn (Wyland) Plewa and daughter Ellianna (Ellie) Plewa. They were especially helpful to Ann during her long-standing medical concerns. Ann was formerly employed by Penn Cambria School District as a teacher assistant. She enjoyed spending time as a Girl Scout Leader for over 20 years, and was a member of the Lilly Volunteer Fire Company and the Auxiliary. She was very active in St. Bridgids church as a choir member, CCD teacher and a lector at daily masses. She was an active member in the Legion of Mary. She enjoyed spending time with her family, camping, traveling, and watching her grandchildren and great grand-children’s sporting events.The family would also like to say a special thank you to Lori, Dee, Deb and Brenda for caring for Ann over this past year. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Family will receive friends at the Serenko-Claar Funeral Home, PC, Portage, Friday from 4 PM to 8 PM. Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of the Alleghenies Church, Lilly on Saturday at 10 a.m. Father Kevin Queally, TOR celebrant. Committal will be at St. Bridgid’s Cemetery, Lilly. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to St. Vincent DePaul Society.
