Hanak, John, 95, of Portage, passed away September 30, 2021 at home. Born May 14, 1926 in Portage, the son of Nicholas and Helen (Pirtko) Hanak. Deceased family members include his parents; wife, Ann (Shaffer) Hanak; brothers, Nicholas and Michael; and sisters, Mary, Helen, Ann, and Julie. Survived by sons, John Jody (Christine) Hanak, Carlisle, and Kip Hanak, Portage. Also survived by granddaughters, Bethany and Rebekah Hanak. Brother of Margaret Lasko and Andrew Hanak. U.S. Army Veteran of WW II. Retired from Calandras as a machine operator. Friends received from 9-11 a.m. Tuesday, at the Saint Michaels Russian Orthdox Church, Portage, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday. Committal will be in Saint Michaels Russian Orthodox Cemetery, Portage, Military rites by the Portage Ritual Team. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the church. The Hanak family is being served by the Serenko-Claar Funeral Home, PC, Portage.
