Conrad, John Francis, Lilly, entered into eternal rest Sunday May 22, 2022 in the same household in which he was born over 93 years ago. He was born September 23, 1928 in Dutchtown, Lilly R.D., Son of the late Regis & Eleanor (Eckenrode) Conrad. Preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Mae (Walters) Conrad; son, John Patrick Conrad; son-in-law, Ted Beck; parents, Regis & Eleanor (Eckenrode) Conrad; sister, Rita (Conrad) McCool; brother-in-law, Leonard McCool; paternal grandparents, Gilbert & Carrie (Conrad) McNally; maternal grandparents, Frank & Annie (Dunn) Eckenrode. He married Dorothy Mae Walters on June 14, 1953, at St. Brigid’s Catholic Church, Lilly. Survived by six children, Regina Ann Beck of Lilly, Mark of Lilly, Charlene of Davidsville, Mary Rose (Kenneth Adams II) of South Carolina, DeSales (Gary) Wertz of Lilly, Eleanor Ann (Keith) Kearney of Lilly and daughter-in-law Elaine (Boal) Conrad of Tyrone; 14 grandchildren: Heather (Tom) Lancaster, Jessica (John) Garzarelli, Crystal (Jason) Wherry, Amanda Beck, Francis (Andrea) Conrad, Byron Conrad, Kenneth Adams III (Chuck Kaufmann), Tyler Conrad, Kelly Adams, Kristen (David) Hypes, Courtney (Bill) Miller, Hillary (Ryan) Parker, Michael (MacKenzie) Kearney and Brianna (Anthony) Leahey; 17 great-grandchildren: Braden Wherry, Dominic Garzarelli; Teddi Rae Beck, Kendra Garzarelli, Mason Wherry, Mae Lancaster, Anna Lancaster, Cash Conrad, Drew Hanlon, Maddow Patterson, Julia Lancaster, Dylan Hypes, Xavier Kearney, Anthony Leahey, Kendall Kearney, Aliza Leahey and Katherine Miller. He was a 1946 graduate of Lilly High School. He worked for C.A. Hughes Coal Co. & Bethlemhem Steel Co. (car shops) with 33 years of service. He spent his life helping anyone in need. He especially enjoyed his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Friends will be received from 5-8, p,m., Thursday at the Serenko-Claar Funeral Home, PC, Portage. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday at 10 a.m., at Our Lady of the Alleghenies Chapel, Lilly, Father Matthew Reese, celebrant. Committal will be in St. Brigid's Cemetery, Lilly.
