John Alan Burkett

John Alan Burkett Sr. passed away unexpectedly on June 1, 2021, after a courageous battle with COVID-19.

John is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Liz; children John Burkett Jr, married to Melissa; and Sandy Dusack, married to John; grandkids Brianna, Jordan, Cassidy, Ella, Riley, and Alley; fur babies Boots (woof) and Mittens (meow); and grand fur babies (woof and meow).

John was the most caring man who would give his shirt off his back to someone in need. He enjoyed working on vehicles and remodeling projects; no challenge was too big or too small, he would take control and show how to get things done. He enjoyed being dragged to waterfalls and zoos to make his wife and daughter happy and fighting with his son while working on projects together (the bond is strong between those two). He loved his family and was a proud pappy who attended his grandkids events with a smile on his face. He loved his country life with his quad, side by side, and always had some form of a backhoe. Recently, he was enjoying teaching his three almost 16-year-old granddaughters how to drive the side by side so they could get ready for the real road. He will be missed by many but most of all from his family.

A viewing is scheduled for Friday, June 4, 2021 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Serenko-Claar Funeral Home, PC, at 812 Main Street, Portage. All are welcome to attend and celebrate John’s life. The family will be wearing jeans, feel free to do the same as that was who John was, a jeans and tee shirt, dress up on Sunday’s kind of guy. John will be cremated so there is a no need for flowers, if you would like to support the family with medical/funeral costs, please send donations directly to the funeral home or directly to the family.
