James Connelly

Connelly, James, Sr., 93, Portage passed away April 29, 2019. Born August 3, 1925 in Lilly, the son of John Patrick and Genevieve (Hagan) Connelly. Deceased family members include his parents, and sister Helen Illig. He is survived by his wife Ruth (Glass) Connelly; sons James Connelly Jr. of Jefferson, MD and Neil Connelly of Lenoir, NC; grandchildren John, Shawn, Christopher, Melissa and Elizabeth; and great-grandchildren Aidan, Landon, Jacob, Alex, Jack and William.Brother of, John Dougherty, Portage; Janet Christe, Moon Twp; Kathleen LaFlemme, VA; Patricia Kinley, NC; and Francis Dougherty, MD. James served in the Army Air Corp. in the European Theater during WWII. He enjoyed the Pirates, Steelers, fishing, and spending time with his family. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday at Holy Family Parish, 509 Caldwell Ave., Portage, Pa 15946. Father Tom Stabile, TOR, celebrant. Entombment in Sacred Heart Mausoleum.
