Helen M. (Shandor) Torrez

Torrez, Helen M. (Shandor), 96, of Benscreek, Lilly RD, passed away on August 24, 2023 at home. Born February 12, 1927 to the late Charles and Mary (Lego) Shandor. Also preceding her in death, her son, David Hollinger and brothers, Charles (Buddy) and James Shandor, sisters, Delores (Tootsie) Martin and Marcella Diehl. Survived by her husband of 60 years, Raymond, sisters Mary Jane Lingafelt, Jeannie Pastovic, Sylvia Forst, and Rose Noel, who, along with her son Jim and his daughter Laurel, took special care of Helen. She is also survived by granddaughter Pamela Duke, great-granddaughter Ashlyn Mazur, and great-grandson Aaron Duke, along with numerous nieces and nephews and her beloved cats Charlie and Buddy. For many years Helen was a member of the Benscreek Social Citizens Club and Ladies Auxiliary. She was loved by everyone and will be deeply missed. At her request there will be no visitation. Graveside services will be held at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Cemetery, Lilly, on Saturday, September 30, 2023 at 10 a.m., with Father Matthew Reese, officiating.
