Smetana, Helen, 95, of Portage passed away July 10, 2019. Born in June 16, 1924 in Lilly, the daughter of John and Mary (Zurilla) Smilnak. Deceased family members include her parents; husband, John Smetana; sons, John and William Smetana; brothers, John, Michael, Andrew and George Smilnak; and sisters, Frances George, Agnes M. Lescznske, and Dolores Hollop. Survived by daughters-in-law, Betty and Lorraine; grandchildren, William, Rhonda, Stephen, and Barbara; great-grandchildren, Kelsey; Lucas; and Ryan. Helen was a former seamstress for the Puritan Foundation and served as a cook for the former Sacred Heart Church for over 30 years. Helen enjoyed cooking and crocheting. Friends will be received from 10 - 11 a.m. Monday at Holy Family Parish, 509 Caldwell Ave., Portage where Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monsignor Bernard Przybocki, celebrant. Committal in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Portage. The Serenko-Claar Funeral Home, PC, Portage is serving the Smetana Family.
