Gladys Simala

Simala, Gladys C. 93, of Newville, PA, formerly of Portage, passed away  March 2, 2022 in Chambersburg,  PA. Born Nov. 28, 1928 in Sonman, Portage Twp. the daughter of Walter and Goldie (Weyandt) Miller. Deceased family members include her parents; husband, Michael J. Simala; son, Michael F. Simala; brothers, Charles; Bud; James; Joseph; and Paul Miller; sisters, Mary Davinson; Lucy Abbots; and Agnes Abbots; grandsons, David A. Sybert; and Craig T. Simala; and daughter in law, Gisele (Thrower) Simala. Survived by children, Theresa, wife of David Sybert, Newville; Water "Tom" Simala; and Paul Simala, both of Portage. She will be sadly missed by her grandchildren, Samantha; Jennifer; Christine; Chelsea; and Paul, Jr.; great grandchildren, Haley; Peyton; Cory; Jessica; Emma; Landon; Flora; and Jameson; and great great grandchildren, Olin; Evelyn; and Sierra. Gladys was totally devoted to her family and enjoyed word search puzzles, scratching lottery tickets, and watching church on television. Everyone who knew her enjoyed her wonderful sense of humor. Friends received from 11 AM to 1 PM Saturday at the Serenko-Claar Funeral Home, PC, Portage where funeral service will be held at 1 PM. Fr. Thomas Stabile, TOR, Officiating. Committal will be private for the family. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that everyone do an act of kindness to another person and remember Gladys with a smile.
