George was a proud U.S WWII Navy Veteran. He never missed a sporting event, a special occasion, or family dinner alongside them. He also enjoyed spending numerous hours caring for his garden, which he was very proud of, picking blueberries and mushrooms, and canning tomatoes and peaches up until last year. He enjoyed spending time talking with friends, weekly breakfast with Gary Baudoux and coffee with Bill Offman. He was an avid deer hunter and Pittsburgh Steelers fan, and loved going with his grandkids to the Ranger for ice cream. George was a member of the VFW, Amvets, and American Legion. At the age of 71, one of his proud accomplishments was restoring the Army tank, which is currently displayed at the Portage American Legion.
