Vrabel, Frederick, "Fred" 97 of Portage, passed away November 3, 2023 at Forest Hills Personal Care Home, Sidman. Born April 30, 1926, in Benscreek, the son of Nicholas and Anna (Tutsock) Vrabel. Deceased family members include his parents; son, Greg Vrabel; brothers, Stephen, John, Paul, George and Nicholas Vrabel; and sister, Mary Sladics. He was the last member of his immediate family. Survived by loving wife of 71 years, Elaine (Lutz) Vrabel; sons, Frederick (Charlotte) Vrabel; Raymond (Deborah) Vrabel; and Mark (Mary Ann) Vrabel; grandchildren, Eric, Jennifer (Mike), Ray (Lindsey), Kristen (Dan), Chris (Amanda), and Brian (Kristin); great-grandchildren, Griffin, Jack, Addison, Chase, Marlee, Danny, Jaxson, Alaina, and Miles. Also survived by numerous close nieces and nephews. U.S. Army Veteran of WW II. Retired from the USPS as a Rural Carrier. He enjoyed fishing, mushroom picking, and rooting for the Pittsburgh Sports Teams. Friends received from 4-8 p.m., Thursday at the Serenko-Claar Funeral Home, PC, Portage where Panachida will be sung at 7 p.m. Divine Liturgy will be Celebrated at 10 a.m., Friday at Ss. Peter and Paul Byzantine Catholic Church, Portage. Fr, James Spontak, Celebrant. Committal in Ss. Peter and Paul Cemetery. Military Rites by the Portage Ritual Team.
