Dr. Samuel Resconich

Resconich, Dr. Samuel, 91, of Portage, passed away January 8, 2025 at home. Born July 31, 1933 in Portage the son of Karl and Mary (Patney) Resconich. Deceased family members include his parents; brothers, George Resconich and Fr. Emil Resconich, T.O.R; and sister, Dorothy M. "Pee Wee" Resconich. Sam is survived by several nieces and nephews. Saint Francis University Class of 1954 (Chemistry major, Math minor) Ph.D. in Chemistry from Purdue University in 1960 Saint Francis University - Professor of Chemistry 1960-2000 Retired as Professor Emeritus of Chemistry in 2000 April 1970 – Honor Society Faculty Citation presented by Fr. Vincent Negherbon, T.O.R. 25-Year Plaque read the following: ‘Doc’ Sam has won the affection and admiration of a generation of students of organic chemistry by his example and challenge for discipline and excellence. Through his quiet professional manner, he has gained the esteem both of the college community and of his civic community. To Dr. Resconich, gentleman, scholar, and master teacher, we present this plaque in recognition of 25 years of loyalty and dedicated service to Saint Francis College. Dr. Sam was an avid sports fan, enjoyed bowling and loved to play golf. He was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Byzantine Catholic Church in Portage, and he was a Parish Advisory Council Board Member. Friends will be received from 9-10 a.m., Wednesday at Ss. Peter and Paul Byzantine Catholic Church, Portage, where Divine Liturgy will be Celebrated at 10 a.m., Wednesday at Ss. Peter and Paul Byzantine Catholic Church, Portage. Fr, James Spontak, Celebrant. Committal will be in Ss. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Portage. The Resconich family is being served by the Serenko-Claar Funeral Home, PC, Portage.
