Stombaugh, Dolores (McCabe) "Dee", 93, Blue Knob, passed away October 9, 2022 at home. Born March 30, 1929 in Martindale, the daughter of William A. and Victoria (Shalchunas-Discavage) McCabe. Deceased family members include her parents, son Brian J. Stombaugh, brothers, William (Mary Lou (Hershel) Nolan, Donald, Thomas, Alvin and Bernard McCabe, sister Joyce Baxter, and Betty (Inman) McCabe. She is survived by her husband of 72 years, Gerald "Sonny" Stombaugh; son Allan Stombaugh and wife Donna; and daughter Cathy, wife of Richard Lauffer. She will be sadly missed by her grandchildren, Jessica Kester, Eric Stombaugh, Chad Lauffer, Curt Lauffer, and Kyle Lauffer and her great-grandchildren Faeryn, Malcolm, Connor, Austin, Bryce, Weston, Caleb and Micah. Sister of, Ray McCabe, Bonnie (Jack) Rakar and Connie McCabe. Also survived by sisters-in-law Shirley (Zaman) McCabe and Kim (Ozumi) McCabe. In 1947, she was elected as Cambria County Coal Queen in Portage. She served with the Blue Knob Ambulance Service. She was devoted to taking care of her family and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Friends received 4-8 p.m. Thursday at the Serenko-Claar Funeral Home, PC, Portage. Friends also received from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. Friday at Martindale Alliance Church. Pastor Tim Dietrich officiating. Committal in Mount Moriah Cemetery, Blue Knob.
