Canning, Daniel Francis-Macauley, 83, Mineral Point, passed away January 27, 2023. Born March 31, 1939 in Dundee, Scotland; the son of Daniel and Jane (Clark) Canning. Deceased family members include his parents and 4 siblings. He is survived by loving wife Marie (Chambers) Canning, daughters Nicola Canning, Paula Campbell, Marisa (Brian) Smay, and Michelle (Stephen) Cooney. He will be sadly missed by his grandchildren Tydan, Kylie, Bailey, Aiden and Andrew. Daniel was a very generous and hardworking man. He was very loving and loyal to Marie for the 23 years they were married. Dan worked at Air Products and Chemicals as an on-site supervisor. He volunteered his time taking veterans to doctors appointments and always had a smile on his face. He was very proud of his Scottish heritage and loved the Philadelphia Eagles and Flyers. Daniel had a great sense of humor but it was his loud laugh that lit up the room. Dan loved to vacation in Mexico and Hawaii and when he wasn't on vacation, he loved to grill for his family and friends. We can still smell the chicken on the back yard fire pit. Cheers to you, Dan. We will raise our glasses of Heineken to you one last time. Friends received 5-7 p.m. Thursday at the Serenko-Claar Funeral Home, PC, Portage where funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Pastor Jerry Zuvers, officiating. Committal in Prospect Cemetery, Portage.
