Barbara Yetsko Obituary

Yetsko, Barbara E. Barrett, 87 passed away at home surrounded by her family on September 23, 2019. Born 20 December 1931, daughter of Albert and Miriam Shively Barrett. Predeceased by her husband loving Robert F. Yetsko, her parents and sister Mary Elizabeth Peterson. Mother of 3 children, Robert E. Yetsko, married to the former Margaret Johnson, Pittsburgh; William Yetsko, married to the former Cindy Berzinsky, Portage; and Miriam wife of James Cole, Fredericksburg, VA; grandchildren, Brian (Laura), Neil (Briann), and Scott (Rebecca) Yetsko; Kelly (Andrew) Greer; Michael Yetsko and Russell Cole; great grandchildren, Abigail, Evan, Riley, and Samantha. Barbara’s love was endless for their farm, her family, friends and children everywhere. She was a member of the Allied Artists Association, taught art classes in Portage, won numerous awards for her art and left behind a legacy of artwork for family and friends. Barbara was a co-founder and served as president of the Portage Historical Society. She was involved in the creations of the award winning “Portrait of a Town” book, history of Portage, and “63 Men Down” video on the Sonman Mine explosion. She was an active member of the Lutheran Church. Friends received from 11:30-1 pm, Friday, September 27, at The First Lutheran Church, Portage, where funeral services will be held at 1 pm., Friday, September 27. The Serenko-Claar Funeral Home, PC, Portage is serving the Yetsko family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Portage Area Historical Society, PO Box 45, Portage, PA 15946 or Autismspeaks.org.
