Barbara L. (Wasko) Prostejovsky

Prostejovsky, Barbara L. (Wasko) 80, Portage. It is with deep sadness the family announces her passing at UPMC-Altoona following a 9 month illness. Barbara was the daughter of George and Margaret (Peg) Wasko. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister Peggyann Trimbath. Barbara is survived by her loving husband of 56 years Dave and brothers-in-law, Ken Trimbath and Dick Prostejovsky and wife Becky. She is also survived by by nephews Ken (Tiger) Trimbath and wife Tina, Brett Trimbath and wife Tammy, Jeffrey Trimbath, Ward Prostejovsky and wife Colleen, Eric Prostejovsky and wife Beth, niece Lesa and husband Paul Shutack, and numerous great and great great nieces and nephews. In her working career Barbara was employed by numerous hospitals, but spent most of her working career, over 30 years, at Ebensburg Center. Upon retirement, she volunteered at Windber Hospice for over 20 years and spent time in Florida during the Winter Months. She also liked to travel and over the years visited many popular vacation cities at home and abroad. Barbara also had a fondness for animals. She especially liked dogs in particular the West Highland White Terrier. Her favorite over the last six years has been her dog Duffy.  She was a devout Catholic and was a member of Holy Family Parish in Portage and Saint David Catholic Church in Davie, Florida. Barbara was a lifelong resident of Portage and throughout the years assisted her mother and father with their business adventures including the Rivoli Theatre from 1948-1985, as well as the Bar Ann Drive Inn which opened in 1956. The Bar Ann was named after Barbara and her sister Peggyann.  She will be sadly missed by her husband and family and friends, and her love for family and animals will always be remembered. Visitation will be private but friends and family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Thursday at Holy Family Parish, Portage, with Father Tom Stabile, TOR, celebrant.
