Sopata, Mary, 97, Portage passed away February 12, 2019 at home. Born March 3, 1921 the daughter of John and Kathryn Sopata. Deceased family members include her parents; brothers, Joseph; Louis; John; Frank; and Michael Sopata; sister, Sophie; and nephew, Richard Sopata. Survived by nieces and nephews, Francis "Fuzie" (Patricia) Sopata; and Joseph Sopata, both of Portage; Catherine (Sopata) Mrozek, Johnstown; Elaine Sopata and Leonard Sopata, both of Cleveland, OH; Charlene Duguay, MI; Louis Sopata, Jr., NC; and Darlene Penrod, MD; great nephews Joseph (Brenda) Sopata; Dave (Sharon) Sopata; and Brian Mrozek; and great great nephew, Michael Sopata. Mary enjoyed Polka dancing and going for breakfast at McDonald's after church on Sunday. Friends will be received from 9-10 a.m. Saturday, February 23, 2019 at Holy Family Church, Portage, where a funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, Father Thomas Stabile, TOR, Celebrant. Committal in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Portage. The family would especially like to thank special friends Bernice Bryja; John and Renee Bednarski; and Sparky and Georgette Parkin for their love and care of Mary.
