Helen "Honey" (Habas) Turzak

Turzak, Helen (Habas), 83, Woodbridge, VA, formerly of Portage, passed away August 15, 2018 at home.  She was born September 18, 1934 in Jamestown, PA, the daughter of George and Mary (Yetsko) Habas. Deceased family members include her parents; husband, Robert J. (Turk) Turzak, whom she married May 25, 1957; brothers, Michael and George; sisters, Pauline Habas, Mary Havrilla, and Anna Mae Polo.  Helen "Honey" is survived by; sons, Robert J. Turzak II, and wife Melissa (Payne), Toney, AL; James E. Turzak, and wife Heather (Clemens), Woodbridge, VA; and Ralph G. Turzak and wife, Cynthia "Sam" (Hope), Mary Esther, FL; and daughter, Natalie A. Turzak, Destin, FL; Also survived by grandchildren,  Stephanie, Kayla , Alyssa, Daniel, David, and Jocelyn; and sister, Kay Olszewski, Portage; and numerous nieces and nephews. Helen graduated from Portage Joint High School in 1952 in the first four-year graduating class of the combined schools. She worked 14 years for the Federal Government and retired from Mount Aloysius College. She was an altar server, Eucharistic Minister and RCIA member at the former St. John the Baptist Church in Portage and a greeter at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church in Portage. She was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church in Dale City, VA; and was a an auxiliary member of the Legion of Mary.  Helen was an avid reader, a fan of NASCAR, and enjoyed watching the Steelers, Redskins, University of Alabama (Roll Tide) and Florida State University football.  She liked sharing and trying new recipes with her daughter and daughters-in-law and son Ralph. After Roberts death she continued being a "snowbird" in Fort Walton Beach, FL. Friends will be received from 4-8 p.m., Friday at the Serenko-Claar  Funeral Home, PC, Portage, Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 AM, Saturday, at Holy Family Parish, Caldwell Ave, Portage, Father Thomas Stabile, TOR, Celebrant. Entombment will be in Sacred Heart Mausoleum, Portage. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions may be made to: S.O.M.E.
