Betty Gaudlip Obituary

Betty Mae Gaudlip, 85 of Portage passed away on April 24th, 2019 surrounded by her daughters Veronica and Nancy. Betty was born in Portage on July 29th, 1933 to the late Fred and Anna (Wishneski) Andrea. On October 31st, 1953 Betty married the love of her life the late Frank W. Gaudlip. Betty was also preceded in death by all of her brothers and sisters: Friedrich Andrea, Mary Crum, Alfreida Slifko, Paul Andrea, Dorthy Vollkommer, Ruth Chappell, and Jenny Scoran. By the Grace of God, Betty is survived by her “great big wonderful family.” The family includes five children, 12 grandchildren, and 9 greatgrand children. Her children include Veronica, wife of Barry Layo, Scott married to Debbie Gripenberg, Terry, married to Karen Serritella, Nancy, wife of Robert Jacobs, and Fred, married to Beth Letizia; Veronica’s children include Ryan and Angela Layo, Brooke and Darren Morchesky, and Eric and Kristen Layo; great grand children on Veronica’s side, Lillie, Emma, Riley, Mia, Isla, Luke, and Wyatt; Scott has one child Zachary; Terry has two children Cody and Mackenzie; Nancy has four children Lauren and John Treven, Kate, Nate, and Grace, great grand children on Nancy’s side include, John and Ella; Fred has two sons Austin and Nick. Betty loved her family and was entirely devoted to caring for each of them in all situations. She also loved to cook and had an irrepressible passion for pinochle. Flowers can be sent to the Serenko-Claar Funeral Home, 812 Main Street, Portage, PA 15946 or Donations can be made in lieu of flowers to St. Joseph Convent, 1872 Munster Road, Portage Pa 15946. Friends received from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m., Friday at the Serenko-Claar Funeral Home, PC, 812 Main Street, Portage. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12 Noon on Saturday 27 Apr 19 at Holy Family Parish, Father Thomas Stabile, TOR, Celebrant, 509 Caldwell Avenue, Portage followed by a burial service at the St. Mary Cemetery, Portage.
