Sonja Jean (Whren) Moyer

Moyer, Sonja Jean, (Whren), 81, Lilly, "Benscreek", passed away, January 13, 2024 at home. Born September 3, 1942 in Johnstown, the daughter of the late John and Julia (Orlosky) Whren. Survived by loving husband of 52 years, James "Jim" Moyer; and daughters, Julie wife of Frank Crouse; and Nikki, wife of, Scott Poborsky. She will be sadly missed by her grandchildren, Greta and Brendan Crouse; Emily, Lily and Ava Poborsky; Also survived by very special sister, Lillian, wife of Gerald Duke; numerous special nieces and nephews including, John, Gerald, Jr., Pamela, Ping, Lana, Ashlyn, and Aaron Duke; also numerous brothers and sisters-in-law, cousins, and friends. 1961 Graduate of Portage Area High School and then she attended St. Francis College and worked as an Admissions Seretary/Receptionist. She was an Artist and a Painter in her early years, and was devoted to her family. Remembered for her commitment to her Polish Family Traditions; she and her sister Lillian are known for being the best Polish-American cooks with preparing the best authentic, Pierogi, Haluski, Paska Bread, and countless other items. Friends received from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, at the Serenko-Claar Funeral Home, PC, Portage. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Thursday at Our Lady of the Alleghenies Church, Lilly, Father Matthew Reese, celebrant. Committal will be in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Cemetery, Lilly.
