Edward S. Sabala

Sabala, Edward S., 90, of Portage, passed into eternal life with his family at his side, December 10, 2023 at Memorial Medical Center. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family, the youngest of 12 to Charles and Ann (Gabriel) Sabala. Born October 9, 1933 in Portage. Deceased family members include his parents; beloved wife of 61 years, Blanche M. "Bee Bee" (Krause) Sabala; daughter, Sharon Kay Howey; brothers, Anthony, John, Joseph, Steve, Carl, and Frank; sisters, Ann Bonodona, Mary Weigl, Victoria Kumbrow, Roseann Lewandowski, and Helen Wroblicky. Survived by son, Edward C. Sabala, and beloved daughter, Annette M., wife of Thomas "Whitey" McCabe. He will be sadly missed by his grandchildren, Alisha Sabala; Katie, wife of Dr. Adam Badaczewski; Abby and Thomas, (to whom Pap taught all he knew about the outdoors), (Jocelyn) McCabe; Sadie, Hollie (Angel), and Heidi (Jerril) Moore. Also survived by Great grandchildren, Bear, Jemma, Teaira, Layne, Star, Sophie, and Adalee; in-laws, Marilyn Cabala and Gloria (Paul) McVicker. Ed was a good and kind man referred to as "sweet uncle Eddie" by his and numerous nieces and nephews.He was a life long member of the Sacred Heart of Jesus parish and an Army Veteran of the Korean War. He loved polkas, hunting, and fishing and was one of the original founders of the Wilmore Dam Stump Club. He will be sadly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Psalm 42: "As the deer longs for flowing streams, so my soul longs for you, O God." Until we meet again Pap. Friends received 6-8 p.m., Friday at the Serenko-Claar Funeral Home, PC, Portage. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM, Saturday at Holy Family Parish, Caldwell Ave., Father Thomas Stabile, TOR, Celebrant. Committal in St. Bartholomew Cemetery, Wilmore.
